Matt Shirvington
Matt Shirvington is the newest addition to Spalding’s athlete stable. The former 100m Olympic Sprinter represented Australia for over twelve years at the highest level; not only including Olympic Games but Commonwealth Games and seven World Championships.
During his competitive career, Matt achieved five consecutive years of solid dominance in Australia, holding the Australian 100 metre sprint record and winning 5 national 100m titles back to back.
He won his first international medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in the 4x100m relay, at the same Commonwealth games Matt placed fourth in the 100m in the fastest time by an Australian at any major championship, 10.03 seconds.
He also picked up medals in the 2001 World Championships and Goodwill Games in Brisbane.
After retiring from competitive athletics, Matt has remained in the spotlight, being part of Foxtel’s 2008 Olympic and 2010 Commonwealth Games broadcast team. Matt also currently reads the Sports News on Sky News Australia.
Since leaving the track, Matt has launched a successful fitness business; Shirvington Fitness. Focusing on general fitness and weight management right up to elite performance, Shirvington Fitness was established to share Matt’s in-depth knowledge in physical movement, strength and conditioning. Matt works with some of the world’s most successful teams to help develop speed and efficient movement.
