WNBL
The Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) is the professional women's basketball league in Australia. Established in 1980, the WNBL celebrated its 30th season in 2009/10, and sees teams from across Australia compete each year for the title of WNBL Champions.
All of Australia's female basketball stars have played in the league, including current Opals Lauren Jackson, Penny Taylor and Liz Cambage - the reigning league MVP.
Ten teams will contest the upcoming 2011/12 season; Adelaide Lightning, the Australian Institute of Sport, Bendigo Spirit, reigning champions Bulleen Boomers, Canberra Capitals, Dandenong Rangers, Logan Thunder, Sydney Uni Flames, Townsville Fire and West Coast Waves.
