NEW PARTNERSHIP SEES SPALDING AS THE OFFICIAL GAME BALL OF BASKETBALL NEW SOUTH WALES

Basketball New South Wales and Spalding are today pleased to announce the first-time partnership between the two organisations.

This partnership sees Spalding become the Official Game Ball and Official Backboard supplier of Basketball NSW leagues, competitions and teams, as well as the Naming Rights partner for NSW’s premier league – The Waratah League.

Providing more children with the opportunity to play basketball, Spalding’s partnership with Basketball NSW will facilitate the delivery of basketballs across the state; broadening the games reach into grassroots areas, clubs and schools. Spalding is also well positioned to support plans for Basketball NSW’s various platforms of growth and expansion over the next 3 years.
The organisations have worked together to develop a brand new basketball range that integrates the quality and innovation utilised across the NBA and Basketball Australia leagues, yet is a tailored design, including Basketball NSW branding.

Spalding Managing Director Chris Lambert says it’s an exciting time to be involved in the sport.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time for basketball in Australia, with such strong talent represented at an NBA level, coupled with thriving participation numbers at a grassroots level. Spalding is a proud key stakeholder of the game and invests at all levels from NBA and Basketball Australia to through to local associations. We want to see the game prosper and grow, and via our strategic partnership commitment to Basketball NSW, we can ensure that the game continues to flourish,” says Chris Lambert.

Extending Spalding’s footprint across Australia, this new partnership allows Spalding to assist Basketball NSW in celebrating everything that is great about the game, will provide support in encouraging participation and will help drive growth; aiming to have every child across NSW playing basketball – and with a Spalding.
Basketball NSW CEO, Maria Nordstrom is thrilled about the opportunities the new partnership will bring.

“Our aim is to give every child the opportunity to experience our amazing sport. Through our partnership, we believe we can provide a platform for little dreams to become big dreams all across NSW. Every year of the partnership we will distribute thousands of balls across the state for kids to play with, keeping children active playing basketball, wherever they want to play.” – says Maria Nordstrom.

After inventing the first ever basketball, Spalding continues to be a leading, innovative global sports brand. They have been the official game ball of the NBA for more than 30 years, and have been the official game ball of Basketball Australia for more than five years.
